Two weeks

Healing
It was great to be home. I had the catheter, Cialis 5mg daily for blood flow to keep scarring down. Ditrapan for bladder contractions, and the dreaded Lovenox as an anti clotting agent. I dealt with the catheter but those damn Lovenox shots hurt. They don't hurt when you give them to yourself but about two or three minutes later its' like a wasp stung you.Anyhow, that was only for two weeks and I just gave in to the treatment. My doctor had wanted me walking 1/4 to 1/2 mile a day. I took that as a challenge. The first day I staggered to the neighbors mail box and back but every day I increased my distance a little more until at the end of the two week catheter period I was walking a 1 1/2 miles. Getting that catheter out was a great day. I was tired of dragging it around or strapping it to my leg or hanging it over the side of the bed. I thank God daily I had NO complications during this time. Now comes the good part. I had asked my doctor's P.A. about my incontinence. She had said something about two weeks. I think she meant I would have moderate incontinence for that period but I thought she meant I would be fully continent in two weeks. I had read about doing Kegel (sp) exercises and so I would 10 at a time and do about 200 per day. I wore a diaper to bed the firat week after my catheter and a pad to work. I worked 1/2 days the 3rd week after surgery. At the end of the first week post catheter I didn't need the diapers anymore and at the second weeks end I threw the pads away. I am 95% continent, every now and then I dribble a few drops when I cough or sneeze, but at 10 1/2 weeks post op I feel very confident and I just keep getting better as far as that goes. I am currently walking 3-4 miles 5 days per week and my E.D. is getting better real fast. I still take Cialis 5 mg everyday for blood flow, but the only real side effect is that now when I gotta go pee you better get out of the way. I hear that is a lasting side effect.
