Post Mastectomies, Waiting for Next Surgery

Healing
It's been a while since I've written here. The first month after surgery was a blur, as one medical pro told me it would be. I sort of forgot I'd signed up here! And I want to thank all of you for your loving support and everything you've done for me to help ease the transition of this experience.

Currently I'm waiting for my next surgery, which will be on December 7, to exchange the tissue expanders in my chest for implants. Having tissue expanders in your chest is pretty uncomfortable, to put that mildly. The plastic surgeon really rearranges muscle and tissue extensively and it feel like my pec muscles have been sliced, diced, stitched, stretched, pulled, and extremely distorted, yet that's why they call it plastic - not sure if push ups are in my future anymore.

Physical therapy is done, as my insurance only allows twelve visits. I am fortunate to have a wonderful sports massage therapist who sees me at a discount every week. I so look forward to that! Sadly, the exercise strength training class I've been in for seven years ended while I was healing for this last surgery. I'm told the trainer will start again at another studio, yet in the meantime I've not found a suitable replacement. Understand it's most important to live one day at a time here and not worry about things like this.

The pathology was all clear, so the good news is I require no more treatment for cancer, it's all gone! Will have two more procedures after the implant surgery, and they will entail nipple/areola construction, then later, tattoos for this area. Will most likely be finished next Spring. Yea! Signing up now to teach a few cooking classes at the school in Westlake Village in January/February. Looking forward to getting back to working again.
